Epoxy Floor Coatings

Dirty Boys Concrete has been installing epoxy garage and basement floor coatings across the Wasatch Front since 2009. As certified NewLook and Elite Crete installers, we use professional-grade epoxy systems — not the thin, peel-prone kits sold at hardware stores — for a finish that holds up to vehicle traffic, hot tires, and Utah’s seasonal temperature swings. Every project starts with proper surface preparation, because that’s the step that determines whether an epoxy floor lasts 10+ years or starts peeling within a season.

Our Epoxy Installation Process

Surface prep is everything with epoxy. We mechanically grind or diamond-grind the existing concrete to open the surface profile, repair cracks and pitting, and ensure the slab is fully dry before any coating goes down — skipping this step is the #1 cause of epoxy failure and bubbling. From there we apply a primer coat, a color/flake or solid base coat, and a clear topcoat for chemical and UV resistance. Most single-car and two-car garage floors are completed in 2 to 3 days, including cure time before the floor is ready for vehicle traffic.

Why Epoxy for Your Garage or Basement

Epoxy coatings resist oil, gas, salt, and hot tire pickup — common failure points for plain sealed concrete in a Utah garage. They also brighten the space, make it easier to clean, and protect the slab underneath from staining and surface wear. We offer solid color, color flake (broadcast chip), and metallic finish options, so the floor can match the look you want, not just the most durable option available.

Frequently Asked Questions — Epoxy Floor Coatings Utah

How much does epoxy floor coating cost in Utah?

Epoxy floor coatings in Utah typically run $4 to $7 per square foot, depending on surface condition, finish type (solid color, flake, or metallic), and the amount of crack or pitting repair needed before coating. A standard 2-car garage (around 400 to 500 square feet) usually falls between $1,600 and $3,500. We provide a free detailed quote within 24 hours — call 801-864-5026.

How long does an epoxy floor coating last?

A properly installed epoxy floor coating typically lasts 10 to 20 years with normal residential use, depending on traffic, exposure to hot tires, and how well the surface was prepared before coating. Improper surface prep is the most common reason epoxy fails early — peeling or bubbling within the first year almost always traces back to inadequate grinding or moisture in the slab, not the epoxy product itself.

Can you apply epoxy over an existing garage floor, or does it need to be removed?

In most cases we can coat your existing slab — we don’t need to remove the concrete itself. We mechanically grind the surface to open it up and remove any old paint, sealer, or contamination, then repair cracks and pitting before coating. Removal is only necessary if the slab has serious structural damage.

Do you offer color flake or metallic epoxy finishes, or just solid colors?

We install solid color, color flake (broadcast chip), and metallic epoxy finishes. Color flake is the most popular choice for garages since it hides minor imperfections and tire marks well; metallic finishes are more common in basements and showroom-style spaces where a high-end decorative look is the priority.

How soon can I park in my garage after epoxy installation?

Most epoxy systems are walkable within 24 hours and ready for light foot traffic the next day, but we recommend waiting the full cure period — typically 3 to 5 days — before driving or parking a vehicle on the new floor, to avoid tire marking or denting the coating before it has fully hardened.

What areas do you serve for epoxy floor coatings?

We install epoxy floor coatings throughout the Wasatch Front, including Riverton, Salt Lake City, Draper, Sandy, South Jordan, West Jordan, Herriman, Murray, and surrounding communities. Call 801-864-5026 for availability in your area.
