Concrete Removal & Demolition
Efficient, Clean, & Recycled

We specialize in concrete removal and demolition for driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, slabs, curbs, and asphalt throughout the Wasatch Front. Our crew works quickly and efficiently — we show up with the right equipment, break out the old material cleanly, load it out, and leave the site ready for the next phase of work.

All demolished concrete is hauled directly to a concrete recycling facility where it is ground into road base and gravel — repurposed for new construction rather than filling a landfill. This is a core commitment of our business, not an optional upgrade.

Subgrade Preparation & Grading
The Foundation of Long-Lasting Concrete

The longevity of any concrete installation depends largely on what happens before the pour. Proper subgrade preparation — excavation, grading, compaction, and drainage correction — is what separates concrete that lasts 30 years from concrete that cracks and heaves within the first few.

Every project we take on gets a site-specific assessment. We address slope, drainage, soft spots, clay expansion, and compaction based on what that particular site actually needs — not a blanket “throw gravel down and call it prepped” approach that’s common in the industry. In our experience, gravel placement without proper slope and drainage correction has little to no effect on long-term performance. In fact, gravel can work against you — it creates an easy path for water to reach the unstable soil below, accelerating the very settling it was supposed to prevent.

We’ve replaced concrete from the late 1800s poured directly on dirt that was still structurally sound — just cosmetically worn. And we’ve seen new concrete placed on gravel fail within a couple of years because of unaddressed drainage, improper subgrade prep, or misdirected downspouts. The gravel wasn’t the problem or the solution — the subgrade beneath it was never properly handled.

Utah’s clay-heavy soils and freeze-thaw climate make thorough prep especially critical. We never rush this step. It’s where the quality of the finished project is actually determined.

Frequently Asked Questions — Concrete Prep Work & Haul Away Utah

Does Dirty Boys Concrete handle all demolition and haul away themselves?

Yes — we are a fully self-performing concrete contractor. Our own crew handles demolition, haul away, subgrade preparation, forming, pouring, and finishing on every project. We do not subcontract any phase of the work, which means consistent quality and a single point of accountability from start to finish.

What happens to the concrete you remove?

All demolished concrete is hauled directly to a concrete recycling facility — never to a landfill. The material is ground into road base and gravel and repurposed for new construction projects throughout Utah. This is a non-negotiable practice for us and part of our commitment to responsible, eco-friendly contracting on every project.

Do you remove both concrete and asphalt?

Yes — we remove and haul away both concrete and asphalt. Whether your project involves a concrete driveway, asphalt driveway, concrete patio, sidewalk, curb, or mixed surface, our crew has the equipment and experience to demo it cleanly and efficiently.

Why is subgrade preparation so important for concrete?

Subgrade preparation is the foundation of every concrete installation — literally. Poorly prepared subgrade leads to settling, cracking, heaving, and premature failure. Utah’s clay-heavy soils expand and contract significantly with moisture and temperature changes. Proper excavation, grading, drainage correction, and compaction before the pour is what determines whether your concrete lasts 5 years or 30 years.

Can you fix drainage problems before pouring new concrete?

Yes — drainage correction is one of our core prep work services. We identify and address drainage issues during subgrade preparation — correcting slopes, improving drainage paths, and ensuring water moves away from the slab rather than underneath it. Getting drainage right at the prep stage prevents a wide range of long-term problems.

What areas do you provide concrete prep work and haul away services in?

We provide concrete demolition, prep work, and haul away throughout the entire Wasatch Front including Riverton, Salt Lake City, Sandy, Draper, West Jordan, South Jordan, Herriman, Murray, Holladay, Cottonwood Heights, West Valley City, Taylorsville, Saratoga Springs, Lehi, Highland, Alpine, and Pleasant Grove.
